At the last minute, just as she did during the recall election, one of the divisive ex-voices on the board has, again, falsely attacked Board Member Karen Morgan.

Days before the recall election, this former board member publicly supported the recall.  She lost by a 3 to 1 margin.  She then resigned from the board.

Now, again, days before the May 3 election for new members on the Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District, she again resurrects herself and falsely attacks Karen Morgan.

I attended all the meetings.  I worked closely with the board throughout the 8 month period these same and similar false personal attacks were advocated by the recall group.  The same false attacks in response to which others chose to sit on the fence.  The same  false attacks this haunting  ex-board member silently, and then at the last minute, openly supported.

Karen Morgan is not and has never favored providing service outside the district boundary.  To the contrary, she was a strong member of the majority that opposed the rush to settlement to provide service outside the district boundary.

In contrast, the two board members who supported the recall and resigned after they lost that effort,

  • either supported settlement with the developer plaintiffs even after the case was decided in favor of the board, or
  • would not take a public position against extra-territorial service.

When provided the opportunity to take a position for or against extraterritorial service during a town hall prior to the recall election, the haunting voice of this ex-board member attacking Karen Morgan was noticeably silent.

She refused to be counted as one opposing service outside the district. Karen Morgan presented with the same opportunity clearly stated and has always stated she is opposed to service outside the district.

Hopefully the divisive voices that did so much damage last year at this time, the same voices that drifted away when they lost the recall election by a 3 to 1 margin, don’t reappear to haunt the board.

That issue and the false allegations against Ms. Morgan, then and now, should be put to rest once and for all time.

Indeed, Ms. Morgan deserves much of the credit for the fact that Green Mountain has followed its service plan limitations and not provided service outside the district boundary.  It was a hard fought battle against the recall group led by Christoper Arlen (Smith) Devon Neil and Rita Bertolli who supported settlement with the developers that would have provided service outside the district boundary.

The ghosts of the recall past must be put to rest, once and for all time.

Karen Morgan who opposes extraterritorial service, is not afraid to take a public position on the issue and who won the recall election supports two candidates.

The divisive voice of the recall past supports two other candidates.

All the candidates have presented themselves, their positions and their history to you for your consideration.

You decide.
