You will recall the recent discussion about Jeffco’s request that we, the voters, approve Jeffco keeping our excess tax revenue:
Well, here is some more good news. Last year about this time, Jefferson County Commissioners, voted to be the only jurisdiction in the State of Colorado to eliminate the Business Personal Property Tax.

This eliminated a significant amount of tax revenue from the County’s income. So our business residents can now pay much less in taxes.
Ok. But now the Commissioners want the homeowner residents to pay more taxes to offset this loss in income. Really.
So, when you decide to vote on whether or not to give the Jeffco commissioners permission to keep our excess taxes, here is a list of things to think about:
The Commissioners want the future taxpayers to repay the taxpayer loan to the Three Dinos, not the developers who were enriched by the taxpayer loan. Let the new taxpayers foot the bill, again.
The Commissioners appeared on TV numerous times and in glossy mailers to oppose Lakewood 200 and support developer dominance over land use planning in our community.
And now we learn that the Commissioners are the only public body in Colorado to eliminate a significant business tax and now want the residents to help pay the difference in lost revenue – with more taxpayer money – again.
There seems to be a pattern here.
The decision is getting much easier to make.

So if I read this correctly, a no vote Nov 5 would keep Jeffco from raising individual taxes (Property Tax?) to cover the loss of taxes on businesses?
CORRECT.
