ZOOM CITIZEN TOWN HALL ON THIS QUESTION:
DO YOU THINK THE GREEN MOUNTAIN WATER AND SANITATION DISTRICT SHOULD PROVIDE SANITATION SERVICE OUTSIDE GREEN MOUNTAIN’S DISTRICT BOUNDARY?
More specifically, should Green Mountain take sewage into the Green Mountain system from developments located outside the district boundary and provide supporting services to those same developments.
- Up until May 8, 2018, the Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District only asked the developer community that question.
- Now its your turn.
- Beginning May 8, 2018, the current board began listening to you – giving you a seat at the table.
- And from the very beginning they were embroiled in a vicious fight picked by the developer community to be able to keep listening to you.
- For the first time we can take a deep breath and finally just sit down and talk about this fundamental public policy question.
- There are pros and cons on both sides of the question.
- So lets talk about it.
Lets hear what the board members think about it.
Lets hear what the candidates for the board think about it.
And most important, lets hear what each other have to say about it.
FORMAT:
- All the Green Mountain Water and Sanitation Board members will be invited to attend and speak for 5 minutes on the question.
Since they are subject to the Open Meetings Law requirements, they will not be able to discuss between themselves or make any decisions. It is likely they will provide separate public notice of their attendance.
- All the candidates for positions on the Green Mountain Board will be invited to attend and speak for 5 minutes on the question.
The recall election is October 5 and the ballots will be mailed beginning September 13.
- All people attending will be invited to speak for 3 minutes on the question.
- There will be zero tolerance for personal attacks against any individual or group of individuals. The purpose is to discuss the question, not attack other people. Anyone who begins to violate this requirement will be immediately muted for the remainder of the meeting.
It is an opportunity to listen and to be heard. It was a long hard battle to get this opportunity. We should respect it and protect it. It could be lost again.
